Raising Confident Children

This is a practical parenting group for parents and carers with children aged 5-12 years. The 8-week program starts on 31 July 2008, Thursdays, 10am-12 noon.

Meet with other parents and discuss ways to:
• Improve your relationship with your child
• Rethink the way we discipline
• Accept your child's strong feelings
• Think more positively about your child
• Encourage your child's confidence
• Recognise your child's strengths

Thursday 28th August - Grandparents course

Play and development babies to toddlers

 

Statistics show 1 in 5 grandparents are taking on the role of part-time caregiver to their grandchildren. Council's Children's Services staff, in partnership with a team of professionals in midwifery. lactation consultancy, Tresillian and Karitane training, recognise the need for assisting this group of dedicated caregivers. This course will give grandparents the opportunity to have up-to-date information and management skills when caring for their grandchildren.

The Step by Step Parenting Team offers clear, concise and practical advice in an informal session on play and development in babies to toddlers, focusing on physical, emotional, cognitive and social growth. Baby Steps will provide an overview of these stages.

Saturday 6th September  - FESTIVAL BRINGS BEDLAM TO KOGARAH

This year marks the 17th year of the Kogarah Fair and Charity Bed Race, an event that brings people from all over Sydney to join in the festivities while raising vital funds for The St George Hospital.

Railway Parade in Kogarah explodes into colour and vibrancy as marching bands strike up and rousing teams ham it up for the annual BED PARADE, followed by the exciting BATTLE OF THE BEDS.

Belgrave Street and the Kogarah Town Square will host an entertainment EXTRAVAGANZA where visitors can soak up the carnival atmosphere.
