The A - Z of the St George & Sutherland Shire. Stuck for something to do, you don’t have to travel too far to enjoy some of Sydney’s best, it’s all here at your doorstep. Audley River and Visitors Centre, hire a row boat at Audley and paddle up Kangaroo Creek. The Visitors Centre has maps and information on what you can do and see. Beautiful Botany Bay National Park rings the foreshore of Kurnell, and has various walking tracks. Carrs Park, bring your bikes and while you’re there check out the playgrounds, picnic areas, and Carrs Park Cottage. Darook Park, a very child friendly beach. Esplande (The) at Cronulla, take a stroll and enjoy the magnificent seaside. Ideal for prams and strollers. Ferry Ride to Bundeena. Gunnamatta Bay, a great park and playground by the beach. Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre, at Gymea, this unique complex includes a Regional Gallery, Community Gallery, theatrette, and art studios which offer a wide range of courses. The Hazelhurst cafe is a popular meeting place where the tranquility of the gardens. Invest in your health and go for a walk. Joseph Banks Native Plant Reserve (Manooka Ave, Kareela), 2.2 ha of paths, ponds and plants. Kurnell, a meeting place since 1770, has many bike tracks and picnic spots to enjoy. The Discovery Centre displays old maps, and relics of its historic past. Also a great spot to introduce your little ones to fishing. Local Libraries offer story telling, all the latest books and internet access amongst many other things. Mortdale Memorial Park, pack a picnic and enjoy the playground. National Park scenic drive, discover the beauty of this wonderful parkland. Oatley Park is one of Southern Sydney’s best kept secrets, a 45 hectare park that juts out into the Georges River. Port Hacking River Cruise. Quack, quack feed the ducks at E G Waterhouse National Camellia Gardens, President Ave, Caringbah Rockdale Park access from Bryant Street is one of the most beautiful and well maintained parks in the St. George area. This little piece of paradise is comprised of lush lawns, beautiful trees, rocks and a beautiful waterfall. St George Regional Museum is dedicated to preserving the unique history of the St George region and developing interesting art and history exhibitions, conveniently situated in the centre of the Hurstville CBD, five minutes walk from Hurstville Station at 14 MacMahon St, Hurstville Take the time to visit the Sydney Tramway Museum, open Wednesdays and Sundays. Every day during school holidays. Unwind, arrange for someone to mind your children and have a massage. Visit a friend or a family member. Woronora River, hire a canoe from the Star Boatshed and find your own private picnic spot. X Exhausted, take a break and put your feet up, outdoors if the weathers good. Yes, what you should say the next time you’re invited out. Zoo, Symbio Zoo not quite in the Shire but close enough to enjoy. |
